YouTube has been known to take other features that have performed well on other platforms. Hashtags, stories, shorts etc. You can add mentions to that list as well.
What are Mentions?
If you don’t know what mentions are, they are for tagging another person’s profile in a post.
Said person will be notified they are mentioned and choose to leave themselves tagged or remove the tag.
It has also been known to mention higher social media profiles like celebrities as a way to gain followers.
Others have used mentions as a way to include someone they collaborated with on a video.
How are they used in YouTube?
In order to use mentions, both channels (your channel and the channel you want to mention) have to have at least 1000 subscribers.
After that, simply put the @ symbol in front of the channel you want to mention. You can add mentions on posts or videos.
You also have the option to add mentions on your video’s title or description. By mentioning a channel in your video, fans of that channel may be recommended to watch your channel.

How can using mentions on YouTube help your channel?

This can prompt them to check out your content, potentially leading to them sharing it with their audience.

By mentioning viewers or other creators in comments or live streams, you can encourage them to participate in the conversation, fostering a sense of community.
